What We're about to Launch in 2025!
It's here!
Update: The course is live for testing and the book is being edited. I think the cover needs an update. Hmmmmm.
The course is hosted by me, Ruth, the CEO of ETCPD. I've been mentoring and coaching for over a decade, and have a rather successful track record.
If you want to have an easier job, less stress and more impact, then whack your email in below, and we'll send you an email when everything's ready.
This Autumn
Update: I'm so pleased to say that the dream of the app is springing into life. This autumn, we are hoping to take training to the next level. testing for the first course is live! We need you and your help so we can make it great.
The aim is that it will help people on their PGCE and help teachers from abroad who need an induction or onboarding to the English education system.
In my dream world, universities also take it up as a way to give structure to their students. They work with schools to give pupils specific units to teach, and then they can actually be trained in the lessons they are delivering.
Obviously, this is a challenge as this market is quite niche for an app. But if we can do it and break even, we'll run it.
(Please also feel free to contact us, no matter what country you're in. Ruth particularly wants to help teachers teach English in rapidly growing countries where quality training might be even harder to access than in the UK. She'd love to work with anyone else interested who wants to make that happen.)
Mission Statement
The mission: to increase the joy, professionalism and skill of the English teachers in the UK (well, and anywhere really). English Teacher CPD can provide that last missing piece that upgrades teacher training from a very average experience, to an excellent one, even if you are working in a school that is an organisational mess.
Many resources here are designed for new teachers, but if you are already in the job and are finding school just an absolute jungly-wilderness, there will also be resources here for you too. Jungles are beautiful places where a diversity of life thrives. Use this organisation to help give you immunity to the 'sting' of others and once more strive out on your own to explore what's out there.
Freebies for you in the mean time while you're deciding? If I make useful things for my classes, I'll pop them on here for you.
Continuing Professional Development for English teachers, needs to do these three things.
-
To make work easier for teachers
English Teacher CPD is centred around saving you time and effort. You are allowed to enjoy your job, and the rest of your life. It's time for the 'glorification of busy' to get in the bin. You are entitled to good quality training, but you likely don't have access to training like this in your school. It's time you got to choose the training that's targeted at your career stage and your knowledge gaps.
-
To help you enjoy your job
For too long, it has been accepted that English teaching must be dull to be good; that we're supposed to be boring people who either want to analyse the hidden meaning of colours or obsess over Victorian orphans in the workhouse.
It's easier to be an engaging teacher, if you can see the point in each lesson you deliver.
-
To increase teacher retention rates
The current education system seems to be designed to make a pretty simple job become incredibly difficult. English Teacher CPD is designed to fight that. You should be able to become an expert teacher who is ready for promotion in 3 years. Not a suffering teacher having to leave in three years. It just doesn't need to be that hard. Quality training can be the make or break factor.
